RTE’s “Nationwide Revisited” Travels to Kinsale 11th July 2010

11 July 2010

Nationwide RTE TV IrelandNationwide Revisited is a new series of programmes presented by Michael Ryan. The series, broadcast on Sunday evenings at 6.30pm on RTÉ One, takes a journey through the RTÉ archives and revisits people and places to bring their stories up to date. Each week the Nationwide Revisited team will travel to a different part of the country to see how that area has changed over the years and how it has adapted to meet the challenges of today.

This Sunday, Nationwide Revisited travels to Kinsale in Co. Cork where Michael Ryan looks back at film archive from the 1960s and charts the changes in the town over the past 50 years. He talks to local man Dermot Ryan about the regeneration of Kinsale and he visits the German Graepel factory. They say the best view of Kinsale is from the sea and Michael puts this theory to the test by taking a trip around Kinsale Harbour with Jerome Lordan. Retired auctioneer Seamus O’Neill talks about the important sense of community spirit in Kinsale and Brian Graham recalls the historic links between the town and England. That’s Nationwide Revisited on Sunday 11th of July at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.

The show will be available to watch online after the initial broadcast (usually within 24 hours) on RTEPlayer.
